Albert Henry Wessel was born January 23, 1936, the son of Henry Jacob and Lola Francis (Keating) Wessel in Adair County, Iowa. He passed away on December 18, 2021, at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset, Iowa, at the age of 85.

Albert attended rural school in Adair County. He was united in marriage to Betty Gean Sullivan on June 15, 1957. Together they raised three boys and farmed in Adair County.

Albert was known for his hard work ethic, quick wit, telling jokes, and telling stories of his childhood and younger years. Albert was always quick with a smile and had a great disposition. He wasn’t just Dad, Grandpa, or Great-Grandpa, but a friend. Albert was always there to lend a helping hand, give advice, or take the time to listen. He enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with his family, and going on vacations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Wessel; son Mike Wessel; four sisters Ruby Coleman, Wilma Rhodenbaugh, Mary Valentine, and Edna Edsall; and three brothers Carl, Gene, and Loyd Wessel.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeff Wessel of Aurora, Colorado and Chris(Tina) Wessel of Winterset, Iowa; daughter-in-law Rita Wessel of Greenfield, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ashley Parrott of Greenfield, Iowa; Kyle (Ashley) Wessel of Aurora, Colorado; Kevin Wessel of Greenfield, Iowa. Kaleb Wessel of Greenfield, Iowa; Kayleigh (Jason Goldsberry) Wessel of Polk City, Iowa.; four great grandchildren, Hayden and Trevyn Colton of Greenfield, Iowa; Jameson and Lincoln Wessel of Aurora, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
