Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial at the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Greenfield United Methodist Church following the burial. Pastor Eric Schubert will officiate the service.  

Open Visitation: Will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. 

Memorials: To the Greenfield United Methodist Church. 

Alice Lucille Faber, daughter of Cornelius William Hogan and Electa (Barrowcliff) Hogan was born August 23, 1922 on the family farm in Adair County. She passed away on August 29, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle at the age of 93.

She graduated from Richland High School in 1940 and attended a semester at Creston Community College. Alice was baptized in 1947 and became a member of Penn Avenue Methodist Church in Richland Township.

On September 15, 1952 Alice was united in marriage to Melvin L. (Sam) Faber in Bedford, Iowa. They became members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. They lived on and farmed the same farm where Alice was born and grew up, until 1979 when they moved to Greenfield. In 1963, they became parents of two children, Carol and Michael by adoption.

Alice was a wonderful cook and especially skilled at baking pies. She was a member of the Thursday Afternoon Club for many years and held several offices.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, her parents, grandson Ryan Ott, brothers Maurice (Grace) and Don (Alice)Hogan, niece Norma Tanner, nephews Dennis Hogan, Larry Hogan, and Greg Rude, mother and father-in-law Faye and Glen Faber, sister-in-law Helen L. Faber, brothers-in-law John Faber, Merlin Faber, and Ernest Rude, and sister-in-law Marie and husband Don Sackett.

Alice is survived by her children, Carol Ott and husband Bill of Creston, Michael Faber of Missouri, 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Giesken and husband, Nick, and Angie Williamson, all of Creston, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Helen E. Faber of Ruthven, Iowa, Dorothy Rude of Portland, Oregon, and several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
