Betty Tracy

Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Greenfield with burial in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Casey, Iowa. Pastor Jeff Bank will officiate the service.

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, September 25th, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Betty Jean (Mains) Tracy was born September 4, 1931, in Guthrie County, Iowa. She passed away September 22, 2012, at Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa.

She attended Thompson #7 grade school and graduated from Casey High School. She later attended The American Institute of Business and was employed by Allen and Company, an accounting firm in Des Moines, Iowa. Betty was united in marriage to William D. Tracy in 1951. To this union four children were born: William Craig, Brian Dayton, Denise Lynn, and Thomas Lee.

Betty especially enjoyed raising their family and she was very involved in the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Besides being a homemaker, she was office manager for Iowa Walnut Company from 1965 to 1979 and Tracy Export Company from 1984 to 1987. Betty was a devout Christian who served the Lord by teaching Sunday school, Bible School and led numerous bible studies. She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church. She touched many lives and developed a large network of friends. Betty also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and crocheting. She was a competitive game player with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents William A. and Ruby G. (Hiscocks) Mains; her parents-in-law Dayton V. and Margaret A. (Hughes) Tracy. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Tracy, Greenfield; son Craig and wife Kay of Bellevue, IA; son Brian and wife Debra of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter Denise Herrick and husband Stanley of Greenfield; son Thomas and wife Cary of Sparta, NJ; twelve grandchildren: Clinton Tracy and wife Carissa of Cape Girardeau, MO; Lauren Tracy of Cape Girardeau, MO; Mathew and wife Marcene of Bellevue, IA; Michael and wife Sarah of Dubuque, IA; Allysen Bonifas and husband Peter of Bellevue; William Herrick and wife Shelby of Greenfield; Suzanne Boyd and husband Shane of Urbandale, IA; Joseph Herrick and wife Molly of Greenfield; Jenny Herrick of Greenfield; Mariel Courain and husband John of Bloomfield, NJ; Tyler Tracy and Jillian Tracy of Sparta, NJ; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister Virginia Kading of Batesville, AR; sister Roma Bassett and husband Glen of Urbandale, IA; brother William R. Mains and wife Vina of Stuart, IA, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
