Bonnie passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 with her nephew, Michael Walker, and Jacy her adopted dog at her side. After graduation from Salina High School Bonnie soon after moved to California where she lived most of her adult life. Early in California she served on the Board of Directors as Corporate Vice President for Eucalyptus Records and Tapes, part-time manager of Vine Hill Vineyards and started and managed a successful landscape business. In her career in Santa Cruz, California Bonnie was a legal assist and continued that after moving to San Diego until she took a position as a Judicial Assistant with the State of California/County of San Diego and then moved to a Judicial Administrative Assistant with the United States District Court/Southern District of California. In Bonnie’s last 5 months she moved back to Iowa to be closer to her nephew Michael and spend her final days close to family. The family thanks EveryStep Hospice, Mount Ayr, Iowa for making her last days comfortable.

Bonnie was very active with the Gold Star Wives of America San Diego Area Chapter, holding many positions from Chapter President, member of the National Board of Directors, National Secretary, Regional Secretary, Chapter Vice President, and Chapter Secretary. Bonnie loved to be able to entertain and host friends and family in her home. She always went above and beyond to make sure that their stay was comfortable and all that they wanted it to be. Planning and hosting parties was something that she had a knack for and loved to be able to spend time at the Westgate. She loved her Maine Coon cats, Shirley and Bailey both that preceded her in death. Bonnie loved to watch old TV shows from Matlock, to Perry Mason, to Murder She Wrote and always had a box of See’s candy to snack on.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents David and Edith Reiff, sisters Geneva Frye and Wilma Walker, spouse Joseph Craig, and beloved mate of 36 years Manny Nunez.

Bonnie is survived by her brother Duaine (Linda) Reiff, niece Sheryl (Alan) Sheehy, nephews David (Renee) Reiff, David (Anna) Walker and Michael (Nikki) Walker, and niece Suzette (Nick) Ernst as well as numerous great and great, great nieces and nephews. Bonnie also leaves behind many dear friends who were touched by her kindness, laughter, and unwavering support. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved and valued, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her infectious laugh will be missed by all that knew her.

“Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others…for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.” A portion of a quote from Albert Einstein

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” From a headstone in Ireland
