Cleo Gipple

Cleo Gipple passed away May 12, 2021. She was born near Stuart, Iowa to Charles Leo and Lura Nelson Wagner. 

A 1951 graduate of Greenfield, Iowa, Cleo was united in marriage to Larry Gipple later that year. They resided in Des Moines, The Quad Cities, and Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Finding enjoyment at the Davenport YMCA, Cleo served on the Board of Directors for many years. Upon relocation to Charlotte, Cleo became Vice President of Education Design Group. 

Cleo is survived by Larry, her loving husband of 69 years; their four children, Connie (Steven), Catherine (James), Nancy (Charles), and Tom; and grandchildren, Michael and Ann; along with many nieces and nephews as well as Larry's surviving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. 

Cleo was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed. 

Memorials may be made to St. John's Church in Greenfield. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery. Father Mark Lawlor and Phillip Bempong will officiate the service. The family will greet friends on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
