Funeral Services: Will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield, with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Pastor Dr. Keith Schweitzer will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Open Visitation: Will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends at the church on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials: May be directed to the Dale Walker Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
Dale LeRoy Walker was born August 14, 1938 to Max C. and Martha C. (Gennerick) Walker in Audubon County, Iowa.
At the age of three, Dale and his family moved to our family farm in Prussia Township, Adair County, Iowa. He grew up on this farm and attended country school until seventh grade and then attended school in Greenfield. He graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1957.
After graduation he worked for Betts and Beers Construction, Doc Crane and Hallett Construction, helping build Interstate 80 on the south side of Adair.
On December 17, 1958, he married Patricia Lundy at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Four children were born to this union: Jeffrey Dale, Julie Ann, Jerry Le and Jay Allen. They lived in Adair until 1960, when Jeffrey was born, and then moved to a farm in Prussia Township. In 1973 they moved to the family farm also in Prussia Township, which they purchased and Dale continued farming for many years. In 2014 they moved to Greenfield.
Dale was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Greenfield on June 1, 1952, and was a lifelong member. He was active in 4-H, Adair County Farm Bureau, holding many offices including county President, and a member of the B-F School Board and of the Adair County Sheriffs Reserves. He helped with many farm and household sales. He liked going to casinos, visiting with friends, and especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and brother-in-law, Jim Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Pat of Greenfield; sons, Jeffrey (Lynette) Walker of Greenfield, Jerry (Kristen) Walker of Bridgewater and Jay Walker of Greenfield; daughter, Julie Downing (Scott) of Ankeny; grandchildren: Justin (Kari) Walker of Cedar Rapids, Jordan (Bea) Walker of Janesville, Matt Richards of Fontanelle, Levi (Morgan) Walker 0f Peru, Travis (Carolyn) Cullen of Alleman, Tiffany (Larry) Holloway of Ankeny, Jessica (Sam) Foster of Greenfield, Jerrid (Amy) Walker of Anita, and Krystal (Troy) Kester of Bridgewater: great grandchildren: Jackson, Wyatt and Isla, Lucy, Holden and Thomas Walker, Ben Richards, Tripp, Collin, and Lennon Walker, Casen and Vegas Cullen, Kaiden Renaud, Trey and Aaliyah Holloway, Parker and Titan Foster, Braxton and Max Walker and Oakley and Emmy Lou Kester; sister, Donna Johnson of Exira; nieces and nephew, Brenda, Colette, Laurie and Jason and other relatives and friends.
