Danny Compton, 79, of Bridgewater

   Daniel (Danny) Fredrick Compton was born on February 11, 1943, the son of John Russell Compton and Cora Mae Compton (Stevenfield) in Middletown, New York. He passed away on December 13, 2022, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 79.

   Danny was the youngest of four children and is preceded in death by his parents, John Russell Compton and Cora Compton (Stevenfield); brother, John Russell Compton; sister, Mary Isabelle Compton; sister, Elizabeth Mae Compton; wife, Julia (Julie) Ruth Compton; son, Richard Kowalewski; son Victor Kowalewski; daughter, Gloria Kowalewski; and son, Daniel (Danny) Rhein.

   Danny will be buried at Fontanelle Cemetery in Fontanelle, Iowa with his grandson, Clint Michael Brownlee; wife, Julie Ruth Compton; and mother, Cora Compton.

   Danny was the only of his parents' children that was born in a hospital, dubbing him the title “King” and later became “Uncle King” to his nieces and nephews. He grew up on a small farm and went on to build a career as a truck driver. He worked in the trucking industry for years and earned the handle “Rabbit”. He medically retired from trucking and was united in marriage to Julie Compton on February 21, 2004. He and Julie moved to Bridgewater, Iowa where they built a life owning a business in Greenfield, Iowa and later Fontanelle, Iowa. Danny became known as “Pops” to anyone that knew him and was beloved by all.

   Danny is survived by daughter, Jean McDonald (Compton) of Greenfield, Iowa; son, Justin Danny Compton and wife Michele of Earlham, Iowa; daughter, Barbara Rhein and husband Walter of Wallkill, New York; son, Jimmy Rhein of Middletown, New York; son, Frank Riley and wife Lorraine of Wiley, Texas; son, Tom Perry and wife Leann of Canton, Texas; son, Kenny Perry of Greenfield, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen Horner and husband Merle of Greenfield, Iowa; Bob Perry of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Annette DeGraw of Greenfield, Iowa; son, Danny Kowalewski of Tampa, Florida; son, Tony Sterago and wife Kara of Davenport, Iowa; son, Neal Wallace and wife Katura of Virginia; and daughter, Serena Sims and husband James of Greenfield, Iowa.

   Danny will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family members and friends he met through his life. He was a unique person with a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He loved to work, play pool and always had the best stories.
