Funeral Services: Will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cumberland United Methodist Church in Cumberland, Iowa with a luncheon immediately following the service at the Cumberland Community Building. Pastor Casey Pelzer will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the Massena Center Cemetery on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.
Open Visitation: Will be held on Thursday, January 10th, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Debra Namanny memorial to be established by the family at a later date.
Debra Rae Namanny was born on July 26, 1953, the daughter of Donald C. and Elsie M. (Petersen) South in Atlantic, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa, at the age of 65.
Debra was raised in Atlantic and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1971. On July 12, 1980, she was united in marriage to Kevin Namanny in Atlantic, Iowa. She had worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic for several years. She enjoyed going to Apple River every summer with the girls, telling stories and making people laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Namanny of Massena; two sons, Brian Soper (Amy) of Urbandale and Jared Namanny (Bridget) of Audubon; 8 grandchildren, Shyanne (Tanner), Shelby, Dylan, Layla, Kallie, Kelsie, Jordan and Jase; two sisters, Connie Young of Atlantic and Patty Kuhns (Bobby) of Lewis; special family members, Mike South (Bev) of Kansas City, Missouri and Bill “Wildman” South of Denison; other relatives and friends.
