Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial in the Witt Cemetery, rural Bridgewater on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service.  

Visitation: Will be held on Tuesday October 1st, from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield.

Doris Marleta Bloom was born February 28, 1933, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (Standley) Bloom in Adair County, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 80.

Doris was raised and attended country school in Adams County. She lived most of her life with her parents in Adams County, four years in Longmont, Colorado and in 1967 they moved to Greenfield. She moved into the Maple Village in 2004. Her relationship with Jesus was very important to her. She enjoyed reading, television, organizing and attending cancer survivor group meetings, had an amazing memory of genealogy, had a unique writing skill and loved nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dennis, Earl, Jr., Warren and Kelly Bloom and two sisters, Eileen Lilly and Fannie Johnson Kapfer.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne Bloom of Villisca; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
