Doris Brewer, 94, of Greenfield

Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Greenfield with burial in the Canby Cemetery at a later date. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com. 

Open Visitation: Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Doris Brewer Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Doris Mardell Bakerink Brewer, born October 7, 1930 the daughter of Harry and Maude (Shad) Bakerink. She passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her home, at the age of 94.

Doris lived all her life in Adair County. Having started school at Richland and graduating from Fontanelle High School. 

She was united in marriage to John Brewer Jr. in August 1948 and they spent 71 years together.

She became a member of the Highland United Methodist Church in 1956 until its closing in 2008. She held many offices in UMW and was secretary for 11 years. She was also a former 4-H leader for the Prussia Merry Maids.

Doris enjoyed embroidery and reading. She loved being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Shirley, husband John in 2019, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 nephews and son-in-law. 

Doris is survived by her children Alan (Linda) Brewer, Brenda Sulentic and Kathy Endres; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; nieces Phyllis Oberman, Lila Bakerink and Carolyn Pueppka; extended family Ron Moden and Sharon Springer; special friends John & Jan Kastler, Sheri & Greg Blair and Lisa Carstens.

The family extends sincere thanks to the staff at Care Initiatives, Pastor Norby and Cornerstone Fellowship Church for all their prayers.
