Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Open Visitation without the family present: Will be held at the lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials: To the family to be established at a later date.
Dorothy Arlene (Cutting) Twombly was born February 9, 1931, to Maria Otis and Walter Edward Cutting. She passed away on October 17, 2024, at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 93.
Dorothy spent her childhood in Greenfield, IA raised by her mother Maria and stepfather Ewald Wietzke. Dorothy spent many hours at her grandparent’s homes, with a special memory for Dorothy being a trip riding to Des Moines and attending a political convention with her grandfather Ben Grant.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth “Bergen” Twombly on June 25, 1948, to this union three children were born daughter Diane Lee, son Gary Wayne and son Daniel Brian.
Dorothy attended SWCC and graduated becoming a Licensed Practical nurse. Dorothy was very proud of becoming a nurse and worked in several nursing homes in the area with her finishing her nursing career at the Winterset, IA Nursing home.
Dorothy loved antiques. Her and Bergen spent their lifetime together collecting antiques. Dorothy also enjoyed reading, and quilting. Most of all she loved her dogs; she started with dachshund and then went to Westies. Dorothy is survived by her beloved dog friend, her westie Ben E.
Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren, Traci, Josiah, Zachariah and Sara. Her half-brother-in-law John Twombly, half-sister-in-law Sandra (Kenneth) Gallagher, half-brother-in-law William (Teresa) Twombly and half-brother-in-law Robert (Tonna) Twombly. Many other family members and friends.
Preceding her in death is her husband Kenneth Twombly, daughter Diane Held, son Gary Twombly and son Daniel “Boomer” Twombly. Mother Maria Wietzke, stepfather Ewald Wietzke and father Walter Cutting. Sister-in-law Betty Jane Bricker.
