Fran Shindelar, 81, of Greenfield

Celebration of Life Services:  Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.  Father Phillip Bempong will officiate the service.  The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

Family Visitation:  The family will greet friends on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.

Memorials:  A memorial fund will be established by the family at a later date.

Our dear wife and mother Frances “Fran” Leone (Ryan) Shindelar sadly passed away on August 9, 2023, at the age of 81. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother who was always there when needed. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Greenfield, Iowa.

Fran was born on July 20,1942 to Francis and June Ryan in Cresco, Iowa. Fran graduated from Harmony High School, Harmony, MN., in 1960. In 1959, Fran met Al Shindelar at Matter’s Ballroom in Decorah, IA. They were married at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Plymouth Rock, IA., on a beautiful autumn day October 15, 1960. Fran and Al went on to have four children Michael, James, Dianna, and Nicole.

Fran was a devout believer in Jesus Christ, and her faith was a driving factor in her life. As a devoted homemaker, Fran spent her time keeping a beautiful home and focusing on her family. Fran was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She doted on her family and was happiest when her family surrounded her.

Fran was preceded in death by Francis Ryan (father), June (Hauber)Ryan (mother), George (brother), Adela Marie (sister).

She is survived by Al (husband), Michael and Elyse (son and daughter-in-law), James and Angie (son and daughter-in-law), Dianna and Martin Mitchell (daughter and son-in-law), Nicole and Erik Borchardt (daughter and son-in-law), grandchildren Whitney, Dillon, Kolton and Kallin Shindelar, Isabel and Gunnar Borchardt Alex and Nick Kron, great-grandchildren Roland and Porter Shindelar and Aurora Gonzalez Shindelar, and Fran’s sister Virginia.
