Gary Burg

Scripture Services: Will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Massena. Father Ken Gross will officiate the service.  

Visitation: The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena. 

Memorials: To the Gary Burg memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date.

Gary Thomas Burg was born January 5, 1956, the son of Leo and Ruth (Hein) Burg in Greenfield, Iowa. He passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 57.

Gary went to school in Cumberland and Massena. He lived around Massena and Bridgewater and worked various jobs. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and growing large pumpkins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mary Burg and Walter and Elizabeth Hein; father, Leo Burg; brother, David Burg; sister LaDonna Burg; brother-in-law, Bill Yearington; niece, Heather Yearington; great niece, Tru Yearington; and aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Burg of Bridgewater; three sisters, Georgia Yearington of Osceola, Diana Daugherty and husband Terry of Massena and Deb Nichols and husband Wayne of Atlantic; three brothers, Charles Burg and wife Connie of Atlantic, Michael Burg and wife Lydia of Pella and Joseph Burg of Bridgewater; several nieces, nephews and a special nephew, Brian Burg who took care of him during his illness; other relatives and friends.
