Gerald Walter Reed (Jerry) went home to be with his Savior on September 26, 2018. Jerry was born October 16, 1928, in Reading, PA. to Stanley and Violet (Gehret) Reed.

He trusted the Lord as his Savior when he was fourteen years old and continued to serve Him throughout his life. He graduated from Wilson High School and attended Emmaus Bible School in Toronto, Canada, where he met his wife, Jean Byers. They married March 24, 1951, and later that year he entered the Marine Corp. Three daughters were born to them while they lived in Pennsylvania; Leticia, Nina, and Rose.

In 1960, they moved to Greenfield, Iowa, to assist the Greenfield Gospel Chapel. He owned and operated the Amoco Station for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, puzzles, and playing card games with his grandchildren. He prayed continually for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Leticia; brothers, Russell and Richard Reed; sister, MaryLou Gehris; granddaughter, Naphtali Hammond; and great grandson, Elliot Hughes.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family. His wife, Jean Reed; daughters, Nina (Randy) Horn and Rose (David) Hammond; brothers, Ted Reed and George (Johanna) Reed; sister, Joan (Richard) Hilt; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family of Jerry Reed wishes to express their gratitude for all acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow and invites you to join them for a luncheon at the church following the services at the cemetery.
