Funeral Services: Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery.
Open Visitation: Friday, April 22, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: To the Irene Jacobsen Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
Irene E. Jacobsen was born December 2, 1920, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Leila (Winters) Finck. She passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle.
Irene was united in marriage to Arlan Jacobsen on September 25, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa. After marriage, Arlan and Irene farmed in Eureka Township, north of Fontanelle, until moving into Fontanelle in 1976. She also worked for Mac's Electric in Greenfield for several years. Irene enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, and especially having family dinners. Irene was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlan in 2005; brother-in-law, Don Williams and sister-ion-law, Luella Frank and husband Kenneth.
She is survived by her son, Gene Jacobsen and wife Bonnie of Greenfield; daughter, Phyllis Mehlmann and husband Keith of Massena; five grandchildren, Denise Mehlmann, Steve Mehlmann and Melissa, Cynthia Copeland and David, Staci Eastman and David, and Jami Shike and David; six great grandchildren, Cole Shike, Jenna Eastman, Lexi Shike, Jacob Eastman, Halle Copeland and Braeley Mehlmann; other relatives and friends.
