Funeral Services: Will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial following in the Fontanelle Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Memorials: For her joy of reading, memorials may be given to the Greenfield Public Library.
Irma Louise Jacobson was born on December 3, 1929, the daughter of Henry Carl and Louise (Rohner) Leuthauser in Adair County, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 94.
Irma grew up on their farm four miles north of Fontanelle with her brother. She attended country school at Prussia #9 and graduated from Fontanelle High School. On March 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Cleo Jacobson. To this union two children were born: Diane and Richard. In November 1990, they retired from farming and moved to their new home in Greenfield.
Irma and Cleo enjoyed spending several winters in Arizona. Irma also enjoyed reading, going on the bank bus trips around the country and taking many trips to casinos with her friends. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for many years, an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle and helped with volunteer work after retiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo in 2002; sister, Ruby Eileen Leuthauser; brother Kenneth Leuthauser and wife Helen; and nephew, Terry Leuthauser.
She is survived by her daughter Diane Maaske and husband Richard of Malvern, Iowa; son, Richard Jacobson and wife Shaney of Mesa, Arizona; two grandsons, Scott (Sara) Maaske and Steven (Renee) Maaske; five great grandchildren, Emerson, Charlotte, Miles, Jacob, and Dylan Maaske; other relatives and friends.
