Jim “Bones” Corkrean passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial for Close Friends and Family: Will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset, Iowa. Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and the family encourages masks to be worn. The Steen Funeral Home of Greenfield is in charge of professional arrangements.
A Celebration of Life for Bones will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kramer’s on Main Street in Orient. Time will be set aside for guests to share their favorite memories and stories of Bones. Please feel free to wear your Chicago Cubs apparel to honor Bones' memory.
Memorials: May be directed to the Jim Corkrean memorial fund to be established by the family.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Chris Corkrean of Orient; four children, Justin Corkrean (Cara), Brandon Corkrean (Romy), Jessie Corkrean (Nik Schirber) and Casey Corkrean of Des Moines all of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; his siblings, Mike Corkrean of Winterset, Tim (Sherry) Corkrean of Ames, Peggy (Dan) Harry of Chinook, MT, Julie (Keith) Wheeler of Winterset, Mary (Jim) Allen of Van Meter, Jenny Corkrean and Cindy Weisz of Ankeny, Paul (Tammy) Corkrean of Winterset, Joe Corkrean of Winterset and Theresa (Mike) Thompson of Macksburg; and other relatives and friends.
