Military Graveside Services: Will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Garner Cemetery, Bridgewater, Iowa. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the William thompson American Legion Post No. 703. Pastor Laurel Westerkamp will officiate the service.
There will be no visitation.

James William Sheler was born December 28, 1928, the son of Sam and Maude (Bibins) Sheler in Runnells, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his home in Sedalia, Missouri, at the age of 85.
Jim was raised and grew up in rural Iowa in the Runnells and Maxwell area. He served his country in the United States Navy. On June 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Lou Harrison in San Diego, California. Three children were born to this union: Gary, Colleen and Dennis. They had lived in Bakersfield, California and then resided most of his life in Adair County. He was a farmer and hay contractor. He later moved to Sedalia, Missouri, where he currently resided.
Jim loved farming, machinery, engine and auto repair. He was an honest, hard working farmer - proud of his fields, pastures, animals and white board fence. He was a good neighbor- sharing work with friends. He always had time to visit and swap stories. He gave his family the lessons of hard work and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Gary; brother, Jack Sheler; sisters, Jenny DeVilbus and Betty Cory.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sheler of Sedalia, Missouri; daughter, Colleen Fox and husband Eldon of Branson, Missouri; son, Dennis Sheler and wife Evelyn of Sedalia, Missouri; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother, Robert Sheler and wife Rosella of Seattle, Washington; other relatives and friends.
