Janet Stapleton passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Community Care Center in Stuart.
Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial at the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastors Steven Broers will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery.
Family Visitation: Will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle.
Memorials: To the Janet Stapleton memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Janet Elaine Stapleton was born December 11, 1942, the daughter of Harold Roy and Mary Thelma (Bond) Brown. She passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 70.
Janet grew up in Bridgewater and Fontanelle. She attended country school and then high school in Fontanelle. She lived most of her life in Fontanelle. On February 4, 1961, she was united in marriage to Harry Stapleton in Adair County, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Lori, Jill and Britt.
Janet loved to go to garage sales, shopping, puzzles, remodeling, collecting things, and especially loved being with her family. She had made a quilt for each one of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Harry Stapleton; husband, Harry in 1998; sister, Mary Lou Mensing; brother, Dean Brown; sisters-in-law, Barbara Brown and Evelyn Stapleton; and brothers-in-law, Albert Mensing and Dale Miller.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lori Antisdel and husband Mike of Des Moines and Jill Mostaert and husband Bart of Anita; son, Britt Stapleton (JoDee Rolland) of Gilbert, Arizona; brother, Jack Brown of Fontanelle; nine grandchildren, Adam (Nicole) Antisdel, Amanda Antisdel, Aaron Antisdel, Alex Antisdel (Jessie Wheeler), Sarah (Ben) Ingham, Krista Mostaert (Evan Schatz), Alison (Andrew) Rees, Taylor Stapleton and Bria Rolland; three great grandchildren, Colton and Peyton Antisdel and Jayden Rees; three sisters-in-law, Eileen Brown of Creston, Shirley Eshelman of Massena and Jean Dohrmann and husband Russ of Urbandale; brother-in-law, David Stapleton and wife Julie of Fayetteville, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Mildred Stapleton of Massena; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
