Funeral Services: Will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. the Greenfield Gospel Chapel in Greenfield with burial in the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Adams County, Iowa. Mr. Phil Cannon will officiate the service. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Greenfield Gospel Chapel.
Family Visitation: Will be held on Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield.

Jennie Elizabeth Girdner was born October 5, 1926, in rural Adams County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Elsie (Sterns) Knee. She passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center West Lakes in West Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 86.
Jennie attended schools in Grant and Atlantic, graduating from Atlantic High School in 1943. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for over forty years in Omaha, Nebraska. On August 11, 1983, Jennie married Daniel Girdner in Omaha. They moved to Woodland Park, Colorado, where they worked and resided at a Bible Camp. In 1994, they moved to Fontanelle, Iowa. She was a member of the Greenfield Gospel Chapel. Jennie accepted Christ as her Savior as a young woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Girdner in 2001; and two brothers, Glen and Loren Knee.
She is survived by her five step-children, Dawn Olsen and husband Lloyd of Lawrence, Kansas, Edward Girdner and wife Kay of Sandia Park, New Mexico, Evan Girdner and wife Marty of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Duane Girdner and wife Lynda of Rochester, New York and Eldon Girdner and wife Siobhan of Falls Church, Virginia; sister, Wanda Grant and husband Jim of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sixteen step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
