Joy Green

Private Family Services Will Be Held. The Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements.

Maple Joy Green, known to everyone as Joy, was born September 1, 1923, the daughter of George and Lydia Bertha (Ramsey) Warrior in Adair County Iowa. She passed away on Sunday January 3, 2021 at her home in Fontanelle Iowa at the age of 97.

Joy was raised in Adair County and graduated from Fontanelle High School. On December 26, 1944, Joy was united in marriage to Arthur Green at the First Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union five children were born, Robert, Cathy, Ronald, Randy and Rodney.

Joy held many jobs throughout her life, but she was also a homemaker to her children when they were younger. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends. She was a great cook and pies were her specialty, just ask her family and friends. Joy loved her grandchildren immensely and looked forward to their visits. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved her Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Green; a sister, Eleanor Burg, two brothers, Larry Warrior and Bob Warrior; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Green of Austin Texas.

She is survived by four sons, Robert of Norwalk, Iowa, Ronald Green(Zoe) of Minnetonka, MN, Randy Green of Austin, Texas, and Rodney Green of Myakka City, Florida; one daughter Cathy Clock (Dennis) of Alden, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The family of Joy Green would like to express their gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown to them and especially their Mother during her illness.
