Memorial Services: Will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, Iowa with burial in the Dexter Cemetery at a later date. Pastor Chris Decious will officiate the service.  

Family Visitation: Will be held one hour prior to services on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Dexter. 

Memorials: To the Joyce Stanley memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date.

Joyce Marie Stanley passed away Tuesday December 31st at Lutheran Hospital Des Moines IA. Surrounded in love with her children and Grandchildren by her side. Joyce was born January 25th, 1932 to Andrew and Alveda (Kohl) Nelson of Adair County, IA. Joyce attended country schools through her youth and graduated from Dexter High School in 1949. Joyce married the love of her life Gene (Pete) Stanley on June 21st 1951. and to this union five children were born. Steve (Joy ) Stanley of Earlham, Diane Crawford of Greenfield, Sheri Joint of Stuart, George (Micky) Stanley of Redfield and Peg (Pat ) Poston of Adel.

Joyce loved sewing and gardening. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels at her feeder each day. She loved her little dog Molly, the Cubs, Dean Martin, Elvis and lived for her children and grandchildren. Joyce wasn’t happy if you stopped for a visit until she could fix you something to eat and was famous for her noodles, cinnamon rolls and potato salad. Nothing made her happier than fixing a big meal for her family. Who are all going to miss her unconditional love.

Joyce was preceeded in death by her husband Pete and her brothers Robert and Jimmy Nelson and her little dachshund Morgan. She is survived by her sister Shirley (Harry) Fredrickson, Linden, IA. And her brother William Nelson of Menlo, IA. 15 Grandchildren, 19 Greatgrandchildren and soon to be one great great grandchild .
