Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Orient United Methodist Church with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Pastor Cathy Nutting will officiate the service. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.
Open Visitation: Will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Leanna A. Richardson, daughter of John (Jack) and Hilda (Mass) Petersen was born on November 6, 1931 in Carson, Iowa. Leanna entered eternal rest on September 4, 2020 in her home in Orient, at the age of 88 years.
Leanna was raised in the Nevinville area and graduated with the Richland class of 1949. Shortly before graduation she met her future husband, William (Bill) Richardson on a blind date. On April 16, 1950 Leanna and Bill were united in marriage. To this union they had four children: Sybil, Risa, Joni and John.
When first married, Bill and Leanna farmed near Orient raising turkeys. In 1960 they moved to Orient. Leanna had many jobs including cook for O-M school district and Jensen's Tavern, news reporter for Adair Co. Free Press and Creston New Advertiser, and administrative secretary for the Greater Community Hospital. Following retirement, she volunteered for Lifeline, held multiple leadership positions at the Orient United Methodist church, and served as a mentor for Walk to Emmaus. Leanna loved to read, crochet and spend time with her grandchildren, family & friends.
Survivors include three children, Sybil (Galen) Schwochow of Orient, Risa (Steve) Huddleson of Orient, Joni Gilstrap of Billings MT; eight grandchildren: Meggan (Loren) Snyder, Blake McIlravy, Josh Huddleson, Laura Rubio, Chris (Ashley) Gilstrap, Tyler Gilstrap, Zack (Meghan) Richardson, Kylie (Shawn) Fraas; thirteen great grandchildren; one niece Kathy (Roy) Glosser and one nephew Phil (Amy) Patterson, other friends and relatives.
Leanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, son John, two sons-in-law, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
