Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Rev. Dr. Keith Schweitzer will officiate the service. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Saturday morning one hour prior to services at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield.
Memorials: Memorials to the Leon Lundy memorial fund to be determined by the family.
Leon Harold Lundy was born April 14, 1939, the son of Louis Harold and Mary Alice (Meisenheimer) Lundy in Adair County, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 78.
Leon grew up in rural Adair County and attended grade school at Summerset No. 1 and then graduated from Greenfield High School in 1957. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. On January 11, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carole Comstock in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. To this union six children were born: Rick, Mike, Dave, Dennis, Lynda and Justin.
Leon was a farmer and had worked for Greenfield Implement for many years. His passion was farming and had an interest in conservation. He also loved to dance and play cards. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel Lundy and Neil Lundy.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Lundy of Greenfield; his children, Rick Lundy and wife Stacey of Carroll, Iowa, Mike Lundy and wife Shelly of Colorado, Dave Lundy and wife Laura of Waukee, Dennis Lundy and wife Connie of Greenfield, Lynda Clayton and husband Mike of Adel and Justin Lundy and wife Galena of Oakland, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one great granddaughter on her way in a month; sister, Marita Lundy of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Lundy of Adair and Clarine Lundy of Greenfield; other relatives and friends.
