Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial following in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. A luncheon will be held at the church. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: To the Mary Jane Spriggs Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Mary Jane Spriggs was born September 23, 1935, the daughter of Edgar and Pearl (Linthicum) Cochran in Winterset, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 86.
Mary Jane grew up in Creston and surrounding areas and graduated from Creston High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Beuthien on August 15, 1959. Their children: Joanne, Robert, Norman, David and Donald. On February 15, 1986, she was united in marriage to Wayne Spriggs in Creston, Iowa.
Mary Jane was the head of housekeeping at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield and various nursing homes. She retired in 2000. Mary Jane enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing and jam sessions, going to the Iowa State Fair and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norman Cochran; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Hazel Cunningham; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Dale Strait; son, Norman Beuthien; and two grandchildren, Austin Lee and Bridgette Beuthien.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Spriggs of Greenfield; children, Joanne (Sam) Lee of DeWitt, Robert (Joy) Beuthien of Hartsburg, Missouri, David (Julie) Beuthien of DeWitt, Donald (Tammy) Beuthien of Valley View, Texas, David Spriggs of Creston, Linda (Joe) Lilly of Ankeny, DeeAnn (Ron) Lauer of Creston and Sheryl Leto (Gary Cooksey) of Des Moines; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Cochran; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
