Max DeVault

Public Graveside Services: Will be held at the Colo Cemetery in Colo, Iowa on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.   

Memorials: May be directed to the Max DeVault Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Max William DeVault son of Harvey and Zerelda (Geisler) DeVault was born October 29, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, December 6th, 2020, due to COVID-19 complications at the Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa Iowa, at the age of 80.

Max grew up on a farm outside of Colo, Iowa with his brother Doug. He was active in showing livestock at the county and state fair. In 1960, he graduated from Colo High School. After high school, he moved to Des Moines where he lived for several years. Because of health concerns, Max has lived at care facilities for the last 14 years, residing at Crestridge Care Center for the last 10. Max enjoyed reading books, learning new things, and listening to music to pass the time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Zerelda and brother Doug DeVault.

He is survived by his niece, Deb (DeVault) McElfish and husband Bill of Greenfield, Iowa; and other great nieces and nephews.
