Mike Jensen passed away May 21, 2024, in Greenfield, Iowa.   Mike was born on September 5th, 1950, in Greenfield, the son of Bruce and Delphine (Dwyer) Jensen.  He attended school and graduated from Greenfield.

Mike joined the US Army in June 1970 achieving sharpshooter.  He was honorably discharged.

Upon returning from the Army, Mike and his best friend, Brian, went on many adventures throughout the United States.  One in particular was traveling to Woodstock.

Mike was a foreman for the BNSF railroad for over 30 years. He was loved and respected by all the people that worked for and with him.  Mike’s coworkers called him “Mad Dawg”.

Mike was an avid collector, collecting everything, including guns; memorabilia from John Wayne, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe; comics; Playboy; coins; Hot Wheels; anything Star Wars and Star Trek, action figures and everything else that made him smile.  He played a mean game of progressive rummy using quite visual language at times.   Everyone loved getting together at holidays to play.

Mike was the best uncle and friend a person could have the privilege of knowing.  He was fun to spend time with whether it was attending concerts, target practice, going to movies, or just having a long conversation around the kitchen table.  He always made you feel welcome.

His car was always easy to spot around Greenfield or any other town, the old tan Oldsmobile with the multiple Trump and US flags flying proudly.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Delphine Jensen, sister, Judy “Jensen” Spratt, brothers, Ted Hoffman and Pat Jensen, and son, Tracy Jensen. Mike is survived by nephew, William Spratt of Elkhart, niece, Jolene Praska of Cambridge, along with great and great great niece and nephews, and several cousins.
