Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.
Open Visitation: Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: May be directed to the Randall Rafter Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Randall L. Rafter was born February 16, 1939, the son of Lloyd M. and Marie Ethel (Fust) Rafter in Fontanelle, Iowa. On April 28, 2022, on their 60th wedding anniversary Randall went home to be with Judy.
Randall grew up in Richland Township in Adair County and graduated from Richland High School in 1957. On April 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Judith A. Paschall in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Ranee and Kevin.
Randall worked for Feeder Service in Greenfield and then was a farm hand for Don Dolan and then later for Larry and Bill Hohertz for many years, retiring in 2020.
Randall enjoyed making stuff out of wood. He loved Allis Chalmers tractors and going to the Iowa State Fair and seeing the tractors. Randall was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church, was an Indian Guides Chief and MYF leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy Rafter in 2019; and brother-in-law, Dean Miner.
He is survived by his daughter, Ranee Rafter of Greenfield; son, Kevin Rafter and wife Jami of Stuart; five grandchildren, Ben Rafter, Tyler Rafter, Josh Rafter, Matthew Clark and Karl Rafter; sister, Raideen Miner of Greenfield; other relatives and friends.
