Funeral Services: Will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial in the Hebron Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Open Visitation: Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Richard “Butch” Thompson, Jr. Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
Richard Lee Thompson, Jr. “Butch” was born on January 14, 1965, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Richard Lee and Ginger (Elliott) Thompson. He passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at his home in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 60, surrounded by his family.
Butch grew up and lived all his life in Greenfield. He worked for Elliott Sales and Service in Fontanelle until he was 18 years old. He then went to work for Cramer and Associates as a crane operator for 29 years. After retiring from Cramer and Associates he worked for Clayton Auto Salvage in Greenfield for 12 years.
He was united in marriage to Renda Nagrassus and to this union one daughter Michelle was born. He later married Deana Greenwalt and to this union Kelcie and Hunter were born. He enjoyed mud racing, tinkering with motors and trucks and especially loved hanging out with his family and friends.
He was preceded by death by his father; grandbaby, Baylor; grandparents; stepfather, Jimmy; infant sister, Mary Jane; and friends and other family.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Landers (Bill) of Exira, Kelcie Thompson (Wesley) of Hastings, Iowa and Hunter Thompson (Kortney) of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Jerix Lee, Bryce Charles, Brock Daniel, Alexys Jo Ellynn and Briar Marcella; mother, Ginger Thompson of Greenfield; sisters, Sherri Beitz (Darin) of Fontanelle and Brenda Clayton (John) of Greenfield; his grandpups; other relatives and friends.
