Richard L. Cullen passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011, at his home. Private family services will be held.
Richard L. Cullen was born May 3, 1929, in Cass County, Iowa, the son of Lawrence E. and Alice (Morrison) Cullen. He passed away at his home near Greenfield, Iowa, on Monday, May 9, 2011, at the age of 82.
Richard was raised in Adair County, Iowa and graduated from Richland Consolidated Schools. He was united in marriage to Elnora Ferber on August 27, 1950, in Greenfield, Iowa. He worked for Schildberg’s until uncle Sam called in 1951-1953. He went through cook school in Columbia, South Carolina and then went to Fulda, Germany for 18 months and worked as a clerk in the personal department. He was discharged in 1953 as a Private first class. He was a petroleum salesman in Greenfield for 28 years and then went to farming in 1979 until retiring in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Cullen; mother and father-in-law, Louie and Juanita Ferber; brother, Bob Cullen; and four sisters, Margie Calkins, Bernice Anstey, Marie Connell and Margaret Bissell.
He is survived by his wife Elnora Cullen of Greenfield; three sons, Randy Cullen and wife Joan of Lakeville, Minnesota, Steve Cullen and wife Nancy of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Craig Cullen and friend Shelia of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Bill Cullen and wife Mary Jean of Denison, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
