Robert Daniels

Mass of Christian Burial: Will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anita with burial in the St. Josephs Cemetery in Casey, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the Casey Visitor Center in Casey, Iowa (formerly St. Joseph’s Catholic Church) following the committal service at the cemetery. Father Trevor Chicoine will officiate the service. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Robert Daniels memorial fund to be established by the family.

Robert Lewis Daniels was born to Gene and Jo (Boyd) Daniels in Adair County, Iowa, on February 5, 1926. He passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa, at the age of 93.

Bob married Audrey Helberg in 1955. To this union three sons were born: Dave, Steve and Chris. Bob farmed for many years at the home place south of Adair and at the other farm north of Casey. He then embarked on a long second career at the office in Anita. Bob grew up in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Casey and always spoke fondly of his mother’s singing there. He enjoyed baseball with his sons, as well as their various other sporting events.

Bob was always thinking of how he could help others and sent his three sons through college.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey Daniels; and brother, Boyd Daniels.

He is survived by his three sons, Dave Daniels of Adair, Steve Daniels and wife Brenda of Cedar Falls and Chris Daniels (companion, Beth Seuferer) of Des Moines; Steve and Brenda have three children, Mollie, Amy and Jeff; Mollie and her husband Brad Strouse have three children, Clara, Luke and Hannah, Amy and her husband Dan Allbaugh have two children, Elliott and Andrew; other survivors include his cousin, Eleanor (Thompson) Schumacher; Audrey’s sister, Grace (Helberg) Lucht; other relatives and friends.
