Robert Warrior

Robert “Bob” Warrior passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle. 

Funeral Services: Will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fontanelle United Methodist Church with burial in the Bryant Cemetery, rural Fontanelle with full military graveside rites by the Fontanelle American Legion Carlson Post No. 247. Pastor Cathy Nutting will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the services at the cemetery.  

Open Visitation: Will be held on Friday, May 4th at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Friday evening at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the Robert “Bob” Warrior memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Robert Earl Warrior was born February 13, 1926, the son of George and Bertha (Ramsey) Warrior in Adair County, Iowa. He passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle, Iowa, at the age of 92.

Bob was raised in Adair County and graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1943. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 for four years and then to the Coast Guard running Morse Code on planes and retired after 30 years of service. He had served in the Philippines, Guam and Brooklyn, New York.

In 1943, he was united in marriage to Donna Baudler. To this union two children were born: Gloria and John. In 1950, he was united in marriage to Irene Rallis. Irene passed away in 1997. In 2004, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Smith. Mary Lou passed away in 2018. Bob enjoyed reading and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eleanor Burg; brother, Larry Warrior; and son, Johnny.

He is survived by his children, Christine Reed and husband Ron of Fontanelle, Iowa and Gloria Simpson and husband Jr. of Newton, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Joy Green of Fontanelle, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
