Funeral Services: Will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bridgewater United Methodist Church with burial in the Massena Center Cemetery, north of Massena, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery. Pastor Karen Patrick will officiate the service.
Open Visitation: Will be held at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials: May be directed to the Roberta Raasch memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Roberta G. Raasch was born October 26, 1930, in Cass County, Iowa, the daughter of Allan F. and Truth M. (Stoner) Vetterick. She passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 89.
Roberta attended rural Massena School in Victoria Township and graduated from Massena High School and then received her teachers certificate in Creston, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Everett Raasch on July 10, 1949, in the Massena United Methodist Church. To this union eight children were born: Dallas, Daryl, Janice, Joyce, Joann, Dale, Dean and Don.
Roberta was a teacher, homemaker and worked at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle as a CNA, retiring in the early 1990’s. She was a lifelong resident of Cass County. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, taking care of others, attending quilting club and the Neighborhood Sunshine Club. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Raasch; brother & sister-in-law, Melvin and Virginia Vetterick; father and mother-in-law, Lou and Maggie (Wyllie) Raasch; brother-in-law, Raliegh Woltmann; sister-in-law, Margaret Raasch; and daughter-in-law, Becky Raasch.
She is survived by her children, Dallas (Lisa) Raasch of Maryville, MO; Daryl (Shawn) Raasch of Adair, IA; Janice (Doug) Evans of Council Bluffs, IA; Joyce (Greg) Morgan of Beatrice, NE; Joann (Jim) Duncan of Fort Calhoun, NE; Dale (Marcie) Raasch of Bridgewater, IA; Dean (Esta) Raasch of Bridgewater, IA; Don Raasch of Bridgewater, IA; 27 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Woltmann; other relatives and friends.
