Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.
Celebration of Life: Will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Orient Bar in Orient at 8:00 p.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dean Murray Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Roy Dean Murray, Dad, Brother,Uncle, and Great Friend unexpectedly departed this life on October 28, 2023, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 69. He was the youngest and only son born to Roy C. Murray and Mildred Faye Murray (Cox) on May 10, 1954.
Dean attended high school in Orient, Iowa and went on to complete Mechanics school at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa.
From a very young age he had a love for tearing things apart and putting them back together, including the toaster. Dean worked as a mechanic all of his adult life starting in 1973 when he moved to Winterset, Iowa and began working with the Lauer brothers, Massey Ferguson, then went to work at Cedar Valley Ford, then to Quality Car Care. In 2007 he moved back to the family farm and worked independently for a few years then went on to work for Stalker Chevrolet in Creston, Iowa where he would retire from in 2020.
When Dean wasn't tinkering around with motors, you would find him working on the farm. He Loved that Farm. Dean also had a love for racing, steam engines, hunting and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed just sitting around with friends and family having a beer and telling stories.
Dean was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by his Son, Rob Murray, Springfield, MO, daughter Stacey Firch, Adair, IA, Sisters, Carol Westlake, Creston, Iowa and Shirley (Ronald) Ross, Orient, IA 4 grandchildren Brittany Hauf (Jason), Cadence Firch (Darien Burnison), Kaycee Murray, and Kylee Murray and 2 great grandchildren Tyson and Lilly Hauf and many nieces, nephews, cousins and really great friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Delana Gladys Weddle.
