Funeral Services: Will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will be at the Tingley Cemetery in Tingley, Iowa, at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.
Open Visitation: Will be held at the Greenfield United Methodist Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Greenfield United Methodist Church or to Care Initiatives Hospice in Greenfield.
Shirley Ann Callison was born March 2, 1947, to Donald and Dorothy (Webb) Giles in Creston, Iowa. She passed away on January 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Shirley grew up on a farm south of Arispe along with two brothers, Dale and Jim. She was an active 4-H member and a baton twirler for the marching band. She graduated from East Union High School with the class of 1965.
In June 1965, she was united in marriage to Jerry Davis and to this union two daughters were born, Debra Ann and Donna Marie. They lived in various places but eventually made their home in Greenfield in 1967 and later divorced.
On September 5, 1992, she married Donald Richard Callison (Rick), with whom she spent 32 treasured years.
Throughout the years, Shirley worked for several businesses, including the Greenfield Chamber, Greenfield Bowl, Adair County State Bank, Caseys and most recently Cardinal IG, where she retired in July 2007.
Shirley enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, roller skating, bowling, collecting snowmen and visiting with friends, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and treasured the moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She particularly enjoyed going to Nascar races with her husband and grandson and loved to go shopping with her daughters and granddaughters.
Shirley was a member of the United Methodist Church and an advocate for addiction and recovery and met many good friends along the way. She was quoted as saying “I have lived my life on faith, family and friends.”
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald & Dorothy Giles; brother, Dale Giles; and sister-in-law, Sue Giles.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Callison of Greenfield; two daughters, Debra Parrott and husband Jack of Greenfield and Donna Noecker and husband Brian of Creston; three grandchildren, Stephanie (William) Tipling of Greenfield, Shallie (Tyler) Nugent of Shawnee, KS and Nick (Haley) Noecker of Creston; four great grandchildren, Lydia Tipling, Blair Tipling, Crew Noecker and Ava Nugent; brother Jim Giles and wife Rhonda of Creston; parents-in-law Jerry & JoAnn Putz of Lacona; father-in-law George Callison of Creston, sister-in-law Sandi Christensen and friend Dave of Marshalltown and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
