Thomas Perry Lamborn was born October 4, 1937. The son of Charles Robert Lamborn and Aesel Lulu Lowe on their farm south of Adair. He passed away August 8, 2022 with his daughter at his side.
He spent his childhood helping his parents farm, milk cows and raise livestock. He spent his free time riding his ponies, swimming, hunting, and fishing. His favorite pastime was loving his pets. His beautiful soul shined when animals were around.
After his high-school graduation he joined the Navy as a SEEBEA. Stationed at Pearl Harbor his skills took him to Midway, Johnston Islands, Enewetak, and the Aleutian Islands. He rarely spoke of his military career. His plane went down over the Pacific. He was one of 10 survivors crediting his survival training. He performed aerial reconnaissance missions over Russia. Some top-secret. When asked for details. He simply said, “they picked people who could keep their mouth shut”.
After honorable discharge he came back to Iowa to work as a lineman. He met and married his best friend Marlene Miller on 5/25/1969 and was married 50 years. He would often say he got lucky with Mollie. To this union, one daughter was born, Tara.
He was the strong, silent type. Never wanting recognition for his achievements or generosity. His memory will live on in the heart of his daughter. He will be loved for eternity.
His was preceded in death by his wife Mollie, brother-in-law Max, and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Tara Fisk of Des Moines, son-in-law Jerry and his brother Bob of Fontanelle.
