Twilah Tipling

Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fontanelle United Methodist Church with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastor Cathy Nutting will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the services at the cemetery.  

Open Visitation: Will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the Twilah Tipling memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Twilah Orphettie Tipling was born August 8, 1941, the daughter of Roscoe Frederick and Ferne Marzella (Barnhouse) Dickson in Dexter, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield, at the age of 77.

Twilah was raised in the Menlo area and graduated from Menlo High School. She went on to Iowa Methodist Nursing School in Des Moines and received her RN. On July 28, 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert Tipling Jr. and moved to Fontanelle. To this union, two sons were born: Shawn and Matthew.

Twilah had worked for the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield and was the Director of Nursing at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, music, knitting, painting, baking, cooking, and working with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Curtis Dickson.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Tipling of Fontanelle; two sons, Shawn Tipling and wife Helen of Fontanelle and Matthew Tipling and wife Angella of Van Meter; five grandchildren, Cristina (Sam) McIntire, Kyle (Abby) Tipling, William (Stephanie) Tipling, Shelby Tipling, and Anna Tipling; five great-granddaughters, Riley Tipling, Lydia Tipling, Raimey Tipling, Millie McIntire, and Blair Tipling; sisters-in-law, Sandra Dickson, Rebecca Stuva (Gene), Kathy Underwood (Lee), Mary Bakerink (Jim); brother-in-law, Mike Tipling and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
