Virgil Martin passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Funeral Services: Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery.
Open Visitation: Friday, December 2nd from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.
Memorials: To the Virgil and Evelyn Martin memorial fund to be established by the family.
Evelyn Marie (Antisdel) Martin was born November 13, 1922 on the family farm in Adams County to Arthur Winnie and Addie Bell (Davis) Antisdel. She was the youngest of eight children. She passed away November 28, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Virgil Maynard Martin was born October 19, 1919 in Fontanelle, Iowa to Frances F. and Armandine F. (Brown) Martin. He was the only child. He passed away November 29, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
Virgil and Evelyn were married August 24, 1939 in Atlantic, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Patricia Kay, Ronnie Virgil and Reggie Alan. They were married for seventy two years.
They farmed all their life on the family farm. They enjoyed gardening, trips to Branson and especially loved spending time with their children and grandchildren. Evelyn truly loved cooking especially making her homemade pies. They were members of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle and the Fontanelle Lions Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; her siblings: Claude Antisdel, Cecil Antisdel, Cleo Campbell, Glen (Bill) Antisdel, Dean Antisdel and Doris Gipple; brothers-in-law: Mike Johnston, Floyd Campbell and Ross Gipple; sisters-in-law, Lola Antisdel and son-in-law, Gary Queck.
They are survived by their daughter, Patty Queck of Fontanelle; two sons, Ron (Donna) Martin and Reggie (Virgene) Martin all of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Brad (Wendy) Queck of Papillion, Nebraska, Brian (Linda) Queck of Johnston, Curtis (Kaye) Queck of Spring Green, Wisconsin and Cory Queck (Wendy Brewer) of Fontanelle, Wendy (Mike) Hansen of Bridgewater, Jody (Paul) Weber of Greenfield, Kim (Pat) Mather of Greenfield, Stacey (Mike) Armstrong of Greenfield, Jeremiah (Taycey) Martin of Fontanelle, Jessica Martin of Bridgewater and Andy Martin of Des Moines; two step grandchildren, Nathan Hilpipre and fiancee Amanda Cannon of Greenfield and Kristen (Aaron) Calhoun of Anita; twenty two great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Violet Antisdel of Creston; other relatives and friends.
