Wanda Meisenheimer

Funeral Services: Will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, Iowa, at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service. 

Open Visitation without the family present: Will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to services. 

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to Wanda Meishenheimer memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Wanda Vee Meisenheimer was born February 16, 1951, the daughter of Bill and Verlene (Rohner) Meisenheimer. She passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa, at the age of 70.

Wanda grew up on a farm north of Greenfield and had fun in country school until second grade. Then she went to the new Greenfield Elementary School and graduated in 1969 with honor of a pin of Thespians. She also joined 4-H. Then five years later Wanda had a new sister, Waneta which she loved reading lots and lots of books to her and teaching her many things.

She worked at Winklemann Feed Store, Eva’s Café and Babes restaurant, Greenfield Public Library, Places, Pamida, and K-Mart for 19 years. As always Wanda wanted to help others and was a Special Housekeeper for the elderly plus taking care of her Mom and her Companion Cookee, which she always would say “How’s My Girl” and she loved her very much.

Wanda took her mom to congregate meals and they played bingo which both of them enjoyed. She took her mom to LeMars, Iowa where Blue Bunny was made and seen the biggest popcorn ball. They also went to see the famous singer Cher which sang in Des Moines, which was very exciting for both of them. They happened to go to Fareway the day Elvis impersonator was there, which Wanda loved that.

She enjoyed auctions, garage sales, you name it she loved to look or buy different things. She also loved her flowers and planting them around outside her home. She loved her niece, nephew, great niece and great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great nephew, Wyatt Voth; and Aunt and Uncle, Lee and Evelyn Rohner.

She is survived by her sister, Waneta Blazek of Centerville, Iowa; nephew, Byron (Jeri) Blazek and their children, Dawson and Taylor; niece, Stacey Blazek and her son, Timothy; Uncle Bob and Aunt Sharon Meisenheimer; several cousins, special friends and her Companion, COOKEE.
