Yalanda Clayton, 93, of Greenfield

Yalanda Clayton was born October 24, 1929, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of Everet and Ada Beulah (Lang) Harshaw.  She passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 93.

Yalanda lived in Bridgewater until she was 4 years old and then moved to Greenfield.  She graduated from Greenfield High School and then attended Hagee Beauty School in Maryville, Missouri.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Hoyt Oil Company and Standard Station in Greenfield and Cutty’s in Grimes.  She enjoyed reading, crafts and square dancing.  In 1992 she moved to Grimes and was a member of the Grimes Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Clayton, Jr. in 2008; and two sisters, Myrtle Harshaw and Dorothy Ward (Paul).

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Shelley and husband Don of Osceola; two sons, Donald Clayton and wife Pat of Hernando, Florida and Gregory Clayton and Chris of Hernando, Florida; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; other relatives and friends.
